New Dirty Dancing Movie Review

“Grease”, “Hairspray”, and “Dirty Dancing” are all movies that gained a mass following over the years. However, the remakes of these iconic films are simply disappointing.

The remakes of “Hairspray” and “Grease” were okay and did somewhat please fans of the olden days. Although the fans were not pleased when ABC came out with a remake of “Dirty Dancing.”

Not only did they make many vast changes to the original movie but the chemistry between many of the main actors was nonexistent.

The original film was romantic and energetic and filled with creative music that encompasses the purpose of a musical. Not only did the dancing make this original movie enjoyable but Jennifer Grey (Baby) and Patrick Swayze (Johnny) were reasons why Dirty Dancing was so popular.

When the remake of the film premiered, fans were just not impressed.

The actors in the remake were good but there was just no connection. The movie desperately needed actors with chemistry, similarly to Swayze and Grey in the 87’ version.

It makes many fans wonder, did they even choose the right artists for these roles?

On top of the lacking romantic scenes; ABC had changed parts of the movie all around. Some of the storyline was mixed around or added for little reasoning. It appeared more like ABC’s original movie with a touch of “Dirty Dancing.”

The extra add-ins were unsatisfying.

This was disappointing, and quite frankly a let down.

What happened to Johnny and Baby? Was this really even a remake?

I will forever love the original version of movies like “Dirty Dancing”; the remakes just don’t satisfy me. The remakes are fun for reminiscing,  but they can never replace the throwbacks.
