With the Tennis season starting, our 2020 Boys Pumas Varsity/JV season is coming up. Their team was the top sixth last year. “I look for us to be a top 4th team this year. It will take a lot of hard work but I think we have the players to do it.” Mr. Waltz states. 

 This year we are returning a lot of experience, with only one lost  player from last year’s varsity team, “with this experience I’m looking for them to really take another step forward.” Mr. Waltz explains. 

The team will return with seven seniors and a sophomore from last year, and have a lot of sophomores and freshmen that have worked hard throughout the year, doing clinics and tournaments, to really help contribute to this year’s team and the future. 

The team has a very deep team and strong doubles as they did last year. “I’m expecting a lot from them this season. Jordi Ferre, Davin Ludwig, Hayden Warner, Shawn Charles, Jonah Hayslip, Brennen Martelli, Spencer Darby, and Grant Brigham.” Mr. Waltz states

 Their focus this year is to compete with more intensity, more focus, and learn how to close out points and matches better, try new aspects of the game, strategy, and not be afraid to fail. “But still one of the most important points is to conduct ourselves with excellent sportsmanship and character. To be an excellent representative for Perry HS.” Mr. Waltz exclaims. 

 They begin their season with tryouts on Monday, February 10. With the season starting Monday, March 2, With matches every day ending that week in a doubles tournament. 

“I love coaching this team, teaching them the game. They work hard and want to get better.” Mr. Waltz states.
