Sports Brief

High School rivalries occur in many ways. Most schools have a rivalry school, Perry’s being Basha High school. Every year, the debate of “who runs Val Vista” is debated. Having recently ended the Basha week, the Pumas are feeling the rivalry.

Such rivalries motivate teams to try their hardest, to say that they are the best at whatever they are competing in. It can be even more defeating for a team if they lose their rivalry games.

Even though there is support for one school or team, there still is a certain level of respect that the particular school or team needs to uphold. It is okay to be competitive, but when the competition crosses the line to disrespect, something needs to be done about it.

These competitive rivalries are not necessarily a bad thing. They motivate both sides. Sometimes these different teams can come together for a good cause and show comorodary.

Rivalries are a typical part of sports, and without them, the competitive aspect of sports would be non-existent. Rivalries are what make the competition of sports even more exciting.
