As school gets back into session with the 2025-2026 school year beginning, administration is letting the students get to know who they are beyond Perry through revealing hobbies outside of work.
Assistant Principal Kevin Ames admires this school for being more than just a school, he admires it for being a community that recognizes each student’s own personality. Ames has numerous hobbies outside of Perry, including both sports and going to concerts. “I’m a big sports fan and a concert guy, so a lot of time you’ll see me either in an arena, or somewhere watching a game or at a concert venue,” Ames stated. Ames favorite sports team is the Los Angeles Dodgers and the University of Notre Dame’s fighting Irish football team. Ames added, “One fun fact about me is that I have met three Presidents.” Ames was able to see former Presidents Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton in person at campaign rallies a while back.
Dean of Students Margret Borze appreciates the school for students who are talented in both academics and athletics, as well the staff. She exclaimed, “Everything about Perry is admirable, from the amazing teachers and staff on campus to the students who are so talented and athletic and intelligent.” Borze enjoys working out and watching sports in her free time. Borze shared, “Oh I love to work, I set an hour a day everyday for me, I call it my therapy.” Borze used to be a champion bowler, at one point she won $1,000 in scholarship money in high school for her talent whilst winning state championships in the process.
Principal Heather Patterson has worked at this school since the fall of 2008 and favors the creativity and passions that drive this school. Patterson elaborated, “I admire the creativity, the passion and people finding their way to give back to the campus.” Patterson explained that every student’s way of giving back to the campus is different, which makes this school a unique community. Patterson appreciates paddleboarding and tubing. Patterson is also a sports person, as she typically supports the Cardinals and the Suns. Now she supports previous students who have made an impact. “I’m a new 49er’s fan,” Patterson stated, as Brock Purdy graduated from this school.
Administration is ultimately prepared to have a strong and event filled year as has been the 19th year this school has been open.
