The top-ranked Perry badminton team topped No. 4 Mountain Ridge by a score of 5-2 in the Division-I state semifinals Wednesday night.

The win sends PHS to its third state championship against the third-ranked Hamilton Huskies. The Pumas beat Hamilton earlier in the year 6-3 at HHS on Sept. 9.

Before Wednesday’s game against Mountain Ridge, head coach Lerina Johnson stated that the players had scheduled their own practice the morning of the game, “they wanted more” she said.

The Pumas will look to seal Perry’s first ever three-peat tonight at Mesquite High School. Feathers fly at 6 p.m.
