What had originally started as a creative expression soon turned into an exciting career path. Senior Sienna Jurado turned her passion into a memorable experience, and after years of experimenting with styles and attending a Vogue summer school, she has taken her fashion interest to LIM College. Jurado plans to study in New York, shaping her personal outlet into a professional goal.
Jurado’s interest in fashion traces back to her family influences. She noticed her father and grandmother being well dressed, shaping her understanding of how fashion can create identity. However, she lacked a creative outlet. Jurado mentioned, “I was always kind of a weird kid, and I could never really find a place to put my creativity…”
Her hobby in her early childhood. Jurado explained, “I started experimenting with clothes and dressing weird…I kind of got made fun of a lot.” She continued, “Eventually, it turned into more than a hobby…and I put attention into it.”
Jurado’s fashion journey has opened many opportunities; however, it has also caused rejection. She claimed, “You get a lot of no’s…but the yeses do feel good, and when you do get the opportunities…it’s really rewarding.” Her perspective has helped her to stay focused as she pursues opportunities.
After high school, Jurado plans to attend LIM College in New York City. Her interest in the city was solidified during her first visit three years before her commitment. Jurado explained, “I have felt just going there a few more times that I’ve been able to express myself there.”
As Jurado prepares to study fashion in New York, she remains focused on personal growth. Her personal outlet of fashion is now a defined career path.
