Take a blast back to 1984, see Footloose!

“Everybody cut, everybody cut!” Charismatic shouts, undeniably timeless songs and stomps from the stage floor ring out from the auditorium. Following the major success of “Putnam” by the talented actors and actresses of theater arts comes “Footloose”, Perry’s most recent musical. As it is the final production of the 2015-16 year, expectations for the 1984 classic are high for not only the audience, but all the people who put it together.

“I’m really happy about what we’ve put together this year. Everyone has worked really hard and we’re all excited to see what people think of the show,” junior Brandon Hayes, who plays Kevin Bacon’s iconic Ren McCormack, states, smiling.

Ever since the production of the “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”, morale has been an at all time high for each and every person who has been involved in Perry Theater. Winning state for the 4th year in a row, the students immersed in acting and putting together these productions have garnered an impressive reputation for their achievements, and for Footloose, the level of dedication and sheer passion is no different.

“I think the cast and crew has put in a lot of work for this show and we’re going to be ready,” says junior Rhea Johnston, who plays Wendy Jo. She continues, enthusiastically, commenting that Footloose will be, “Rootin’-tootin’ fun for the whole family.”

On the flip-side of the beautiful productions that come out of Perry Theater’s cast, there’s also another ingredient to the mix: the crew. Junior Michael Gerardi, a junior who is a part of the Tech Crew, comments that leading up the the debut of the show on Feb 18, “we’ve been in the shop now preparing for the last two weeks. It’s taken a lot of hard work.” This just proves to show that it takes a lot to concoct a home-run production, and that Footloose aims to be the best they can be for not only themselves, but for the audience.

Come out to show your love for the cast and crew of Perry Theater by coming to see Footloose in the Perry auditorium at 7:00 pm with dates on Feb 18, 19, 24, 25, and 27.
