Not the tea party America remembers

With the government shut down fresh in the minds of Americans, the tea party has been mentioned regularly. The real question is, who is the tea party and what do they do?

On their website, the tea party claims to be “a grassroots movement that calls awareness to any issue which challenges the security, sovereignty, or domestic tranquility of our beloved nation, the United States of America.” Digging deeper, it can be proven that everything they do is not for the best interest of our nation.

The tea party was created by the tobacco industry and the Koch brothers more than a decade before it was of any interest in U.S. politics. One of the Koch brothers ran for vice president on the Libertarian ticket during the election in 1980. According to New York Times columnist Frank Rich, “his campaign called for the abolition not just of Social Security, federal regulatory agencies and welfare but also of the FBI, the CIA, and public schools.”

The Koch Brothers funded a company called Freedomworks, which freedomworks.org states,  “recruits, educates, trains and mobilizes millions of volunteer activists to fight for less government, lower taxes, and more freedom.”

From the facts, it becomes evident that the tea party is potentially an act of terrorism. The members are using violence and intimidation to take down the government for good, and run it as their own. The tea party hides behind lies so that the American people will make decisions based on their ‘best interest.’ The recent government shutdown, caused mainly by the tea party, may have been one of their many steps to accomplish this goal.
