StuGo plans Morp luau

With this year’s Morp theme of a “Hula Hideaway,” many students are preparing themselves for what is anticipated to be a “righteous” night. StuGo is putting together this popular event while the student body anxiously await its arrival. Morp attendees will be able to “hang loose” while dancing and enjoying the many attractions the dance will have to offer.

The “Hula Hideaway” is intended by StuGo to be a fun, yet “easy” theme for students to look forward to. Sierra Meyer, the head-organizer of Morp, said, “it’s really casual and it’s simple, so it’s easy to dress up to.” The “Hula Hideaway” matches the setting: the school courtyard. Although there will not be a sandy beach at the dance, the outside setting will make the experience much more suitable to the theme.

At this dance there will be a variety of exciting activities to participate in. Although Morp is a dance, many other activities will be present in order to create a more fun-centered night. There will be enough on the side to choose from that students could solely participate in the other activities.

Meyer said, “[StuGo is] trying to make [the dance] not just solely focused on the dance portion of the dance.”

This is why activities such as volleyball, dancing, free henna tattoos, and a few other options will be there to choose from. The first 300 people to show up to the dance will be given free flower leis.

Members of StuGo have also been contacting several of the popular food truck vendors nearby. Some of the food trucks that are a favorite to many people will be attending the dance include: The Soda Shop and the Hot Cookie Truck. Shaved ice, kettle corn, and other kinds of foods will also be available to the attendees.

Loralli Johnson, one StuGo member that is helping put this dance together, said, “[Morp is] a chance for everybody to get together and have a whole lot of fun with the activities that [StuGo is] providing at the dance.” At the dance people will be able to come and spend some time together on the dance floor or simply relax off to the side and have some of their own fun.
