Senior Morgan Kassing records new original music

The road to greatness can be an uphill battle; sacrifices have to be made in order to gain success.

For senior Morgan Kassing, his journey has only begun.

Kassings is an aspiring musician who hopes to make it big with his music career.

“I probably started singing two and a half years ago. I’ve been playing guitar forever, but I never [took] singing seriously [until recently].”

He describes his music genre as, “R&B, contemporary, alternative, but mostly R&B influenced.”

Something unique about Kassing is that he produces his music on his own.

“I have a computer in my room with all the software to make the beats. [If] I have to go record instruments, then I go to the studio and do that. I can make all the music by myself and then go an do a voice over, so i just sing to it in the studio.”

When recordings are needed, Kassing makes his way to Bradford Creative, a recording studio in Tempe. The owner, William Bradford shares] that “What makes Morgan unique is he always has new material and he’s always anxious to work on [his ideas].”

Junior Keaton Merrell, a friend of Kassing, has been supporting him by “going to the recording studio together and bouncing ideas off of each other.”

Kassing has released two songs on SoundCloud: “What I Want” and “I’ll Be There.” Kassing even has a collaboration under his belt. His single “I’ll Be There” features Justin Elliott Tullis, a 2015 Perry High School graduate.

Bradford believes that Kassing’s music proves that “you don’t have to have formal training [to make music]. Recording is a learning experience: the more you do it the better you get at it.” Kassing is living his dream of making music, and his hard work is paying off.
