A selection of students have been working to create and grow their new clubs such as the Random Acts of Kindness Club, the Crochet Club, the Business Club, and the Environmental Club. These new clubs provide all students with a chance to participate in the clubs’ respective interests, meet new people, and help around the community.
Random Acts of Kindness is a club created by juniors, Claire Ramos and Ava Schneider, who aimed to focus on making a positive impact on the community. According to Ramos, “We think that the world could use more kindness.” RAK members meet twice a month, working on activities that work to spread kindness.
Senior Ellie Tatham, the Crochet Club president, got her inspiration from a faculty member who needed a hat for a relative’s chemotherapy. After being asked, Tatham decided to create a club that uses crochet creativity to donate hats to Chandler Regional’s NICU unit. She said, “I think that it’s fair to give back to your community…Even if you know that the people who receive your hard work won’t actually know who you are and won’t be able to thank you, it just kind of makes you feel better.”
Business Club is aimed towards those who are interested in entrepreneurship. This club can be a great option for students who are looking to gain personal experience in the business field. It offers a variety of events, those of which include guest speakers who are willing to share their entrepreneurial journey.
Business Club was co-founded by two students: junior Sahana Puri and sophomore Ryan Nyugen. Puri stated that the Business Club, “Helps [the public] gain an inside and a personal view on how to succeed by themselves.”
Two sophomore students, Gretchen Karcher and Jyrden Gutierrez, co-founded the Environmental Club together. Both students were inspired to create this club after seeing excess trash and empty flower pots around the school. Karcher said, “I wanted to give the students of Perry a way to become more eco-conscious and more friendly to their environment.” Together, the club members meet, after school or during conference, to give a brighter and more colorful look to the community grounds.
