Rock of Ages: Rocking and Rolling all Nite

Perry Dance Company performed their Rock of Ages on Nov. 18-19; the concert was a celebration of the classic rock influences. The performance was a connection between rock music and modern dance.

The Moveo Dance Company and the Advanced Dance Company danced to songs by U2, Poison, Aerosmith, Prince, Led Zeppelin, Journey, ACDC, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beatles, and Kiss. There were a variety of different styles, techniques, and movements.

The auditorium was decked out with blow-up guitars and rock decorations in the lobby, as well as a rock-and-roll backdrop for photo opportunities. Each rock-and-roll dance had unique costumes fitting to the type of dance and music selected.

The dances were choreographed by students, except for the opening number, which was choreographed by Dance Instructor Fara Sadler. Although sophomore JT Church is on Broadway in New York, he still choreographed the dance to “Nothing Compares” by Sinead O’Connor while he was a student at Perry.

In all there were 24 dance numbers. By the end of the night, no one will be wondering if Perry Dance Company likes to rock and roll all night.
