Gore, guts, and glory says it all as Negan takes over season seven of The Walking Dead. In the troubled waters of Rick Grimes and his group, The Walking Dead premier keeps the audience guessing on what will happen next.

When the independent group of Rick Grimes ventures out into the open, away from the walls of Alexandria, the fans are horrified as season six ends with the introduction of the newest villain, Negan. As a long-time fan of The Walking Dead and AMC’s wacky originals, I was expecting a whirlwind of emotions as we finally get to see the victims of Negan. Let me say, AMC productions did not fail to deliver.

The ideas  broke the chain this episode, keeping viewers guessing on what will happen as the plot for this season unfolds. The suspense is unreal and kept my heart pounding for each character as Negan swung his barbed-wire bat around freely. I could not help but think, first Carl’s eye and now his arm?  Creator, Frank Darabont, and his collaboration with executive producer and writer, Robert Kirkman, both contribute to the continuation of suspense that The Walking Dead series provides for the audience and all its fans.

Not to mention, for the first time, I had the pillow over my eyes through this episode because of the talented skill of makeup artists on set. The gore seemed to be the talk of town among fans both in favor and against it. From walkers to Negan’s victim scene, the grotesque details makes me wonder what happens behind the scenes.

Also, actors for each role could not have been better chosen, especially with the newest addition Jeffrey Morgan (Negan). Morgan fits the role perfectly and almost makes you love the bad guy, because he is just so good! Each character portrays a different vulnerable side we have not seen in awhile, as the plot was becoming static. But now, season seven is taking a twisted turn and AMC seems to be choosing their additions wisely.

Overall, the premier of The Walking Dead’s season seven tied together with what the audience was waiting for. I am eager to see how the story unfolds throughout the season, and thought it was fitting for the Halloween spirit. I look forward to understanding new characters and seeing how AMC used their skills to develop the story even more.
