In an Apple Special Event on September 7, Apple was proud to announce the next phone in their lineup, the iPhone 7 and 7 plus. With the release of the new iPhone many customers and fans of Apple were shocked at the unveiling of this new phone. Not just the phone, but one big notable difference; no headphone jack.

The headphone jack removal, being the way people listen to music and audio books, was a shock. Soon after unveiling the new iPhone, Apple also announced new Airpods. These state of the art headphones connect wirelessly to iPhones running iOS 10, which was released September 13.

These headphones have a 5 hour battery life with a charging case that allows for 24 hour charging. To connect these new headphones, just open the lid of the Airpod case and a popup will appear on your iPhone which will ask if you want to connect the headphones

With Airpods, tangled wires aren’t an issue, but an issue in schools could be on the rise. With the Airpods being small in size, long hair, hoods etc. hide the headphones. Cheating is now more accessible.

While being interviewed, Math teacher Sarah Aitken responded when asked about cheating, ”it will be a lot harder to monitor cheating.”

Long hair cloak these headphones and students could be listening to answers for tests through these headphones. Hoods, which are not allowed to be worn in certain schools, can hide these small headphones. Hijab, worn by Muslim women, also make these headphones disappear.

Many students will be buying the new Airpods and will be finding ways to use them to their advantage. Students can find ways to outsmart the teacher and cheat in many ways.

When producing these headphones, Apple didn’t think about cheating on tests. Being able to be paired with an iPhone, the iPhone can be on one end of the room and the airpods can be on the other.
