On Feb 8. in Santa Clara, California, the Seattle Seahawks won their Super Bowl title at Levi’s Stadium. Super Bowl Sunday ended in a 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots. Their victory added up through moments of historic special teams play, great defense, and their calculated execution of plays.
Their recent victory came 12 years after their first Lombardi Trophy win in 2014. This win was built on their outstanding defensive performance against the Patriots offense which was led by quarterback Drake Maye.
The Seahawks got an early lead at the very beginning of the game, with a 33-yard field goal made by Jason Myers, scoring the team’s first three points on the board. Myers went on to set a Super Bowl record by scoring five field goals for the Seahawks. His kicking accounted for a large portion of Seattle’s points.
The “Dark Side,” also known as the Seattle Seahawks’ 2025-2026 season defense, dominated this game. It registered six sacks and forced various turnovers. During the third quarter, Seahawks linebacker Derick Hall recorded a strip-sack on Maye. This led to an excellent field position that set up an early fourth-quarter touchdown.
The score was brought up to 29-7 later in the night with Seattle linebacker Uchenna Nwosu’s 45-yard interception, scoring yet another touchdown for the Seahawks.
The Seahawks had a highly efficient passing offence for the majority of the 2025-2026 season. Running back Kenneth Walker III finished the game with 135 rushing yards on 27 carries and 161 total scrimmage yards. He is the first running back to earn Super Bowl MVP in more than two decades. He was a key player in this game, providing critical plays that led his team to victory.
Quarterback Sam Darnold efficiently managed this game. Darnold, along with tight end AJ Barner, scored a 16-yard touchdown in the later fourth quarter. This was Seattle’s first offensive touchdown of the game.
New England’s offense struggled most of the game. The Patriots failed to score until the fourth quarter, when a catch was made by wide receiver Mack Hollins for a 35-yard touchdown, thrown by Maye. Another late Patriots touchdown was made by running back Rhamondre Stevenson, bringing the score up to 29-13 Seahawks. However, the deficit was still too large.
