Senior wrestler Addison Palmer reached 100 career wins this season, a milestone that shows her dedication, hard work, and growth as an athlete. Palmer began wrestling as a freshman with no prior experience, but over the past four years, she has developed both her skills and leadership.
Wrestling head coach Alex Pavlanko explained how much Palmer has grown. Pavlanko said, “When she first came into the room, she did not know one move. She has grown a lot in wrestling and as a person.” He added, “She has been a captain for the last two years and helps out all the girls who do not know how to wrestle. She even helps the boys. She has come very far.”
Palmer’s journey to 100 wins was not easy. She faced injuries, tough weight cuts, and needed practices, but she never gave up. Palmer explained, “There were lots of ups and downs, like injuries and hard weight cuts. Practices were very hard, but I kept pushing through.” Even while injured, she continued to practice and improve.
One moment that showed Palmer’s determination came during her last home match. She had lost to the same opponent earlier in the season but returned to wrestle her best and win. Pavlanko said, “That match showed how much Palmer has grown as a wrestler. She did not let the earlier loss affect her emotions. She went out and wrestled her best.”
Reaching 100 wins has set a high standard for Palmer and her teammates. Beyond her victories, wrestling has taught her important lessons about perseverance and mental strength. Palmer explained, “Wrestling taught me that I am more capable than what my mind says. Your mind quits before your body does. You can push hard if you do not think about quitting.”
Palmer’s story shows how dedication, hard work, and a strong mindset can lead to success both on and off the mat. She has become a role model for her teammates and a leader in the wrestling program.
