Swim Season Recap
Overall, the swim and dive team had an exceptional season. They competed at the annual state meet on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013. As a team, they broke multiple records and sent the most swimmers to state in school history. Sam Morton, Jake Perrine, Tristan Diaz, Jon Underwood, Riley Lang, Benton Marcum, Raevin Teran- Richardson, and Ryleigh Weight all qualified for state individually. Levi Siwek, Zoe Vela, and Jessie Roshto also qualified with their relay team.
Teran-Richardson placed third overall in the event of 100 Breast Stroke. Her time set a team record.
Morton and Underwood also broke school records. Morton finished fourteenth in the 200 Freestyle. His time in the 500 Freestyle broke his own record. Underwood placed ninth in 100 Backstroke. His time broke the school record from 2009.
The boys 200 Freestyle relay team consisting of Marcum, Siwek, Diaz, and Perrine placed ninth at state. They also broke a school record. The boys 400 Freestyle relay team consisting of Siwek, Morton, Underwood, Perrine placed fourteenth at state and broke a school record.
Girls diver, Abbie Whitlock, placed thirteenth in diving at state.
This year’s new head coach, Stephanie Carrasco, set many goals for the team this year and they have done a great job with reaching their goals. The swim and dive program is even expected to get better from here.
