Goalkeeper Sam DeMarco has been a part of a Puma team that has been very stingy this season, allowing less than one goal per match. The eighth-seeded Pumas take on No. 9 Millennium in the opening round of the Division-I playoffs Tuesday at Highland High School at 5 p.m.
It is tough to make the postseason in any sport, let alone one that only allows the top 16 of 52 teams a chance to dance. And this weekend the No. 8 Pumas are polishing off their shoes in preparations for their date with No. 9 Millennium on Tuesday.
The Pumas (10-3-2) will take on Tigers (15-3) at neutral site Highland High School Jan. 29 at 5 p.m. It will be the first time the East and West Valley schools have met, and is sure to be a defensive battle as neither team likes to allow goals – Millennium has allowed 16 goals in 18 games (0.89 GA); likewise, PHS net-minders have allowed only 11 goals in its 15 games (0.73 GA), according to MaxPreps.com.
