All Maricopa County school districts passed their Override bills.

On Nov. 9, 2017, Maricopa County voters passed all 27 school overrides. This is the first time in the history of Arizona education that this has occurred. In 2016, 17 of 20 were passed and in 2015, 24 of 28 were passed.

According to an AZCentral article on the Maricopa County education override, it explained that the override provided a “$35.2 million override for teacher salaries.” It continued on, and said that the override will “‘reduce the district’s need to eliminate effective programs and services to students and parents.’”

Most of the overrides were not requests to increase the budgets, but mainly to keep the budget rate the same. That rate, specifically for Chandler Unified School District (CUSD), is 15 percent.

CUSD is not completely affected significantly by the acceptance of the override because most of the overrides were just accepting to continue the original override.

However, without the acceptance of continuing the override, Perry would not of been able to fund certain events and organizations such as clubs, field trips, and much more.
