Puma Den Improves Sales

Lower prices, a better variety and good customer service was one of the many amenities that the Puma Den brought in last year.  The Puma Den opened when the new F building was done being constructed; mid second quarter of 2014.

Almost a year after the Puma Den opened we take look at how they performed and and what plans the DECA club has for the puma Puma Den.

Teacher Mr. Lange is in charge of the Puma Den and the DECA club. He has been in charge of the Puma Den since it first opened. At first the Puma Den had a slow start, “Last year it was kinda sluggish, people didn’t know about it and we opened half way through the school year.” explained Lange.

Although this year the Puma Den has seen an increase of traffic, “Since we were able to open during puma days, part of the school tour, and the [fact] that a lot of people know about it [now], sales have increased by about 25 percent” said Lange.

Deca President and senior Natalie Eberhard explains that there has been various improvements since last year, “We have everyone working together, good inventory, and it’s [managed] well.”

The Puma Den is also looking to expand on sales this year by selling merchandise via a mobile cart. “We are working with Los [who] has donated material to make a mobile cart [so that we can] have it out and about on campus” said Lange. Although this new mobile cart service will probably not be seen until late December.

Senior Meritxell Romine has been part of the Puma Den since it first opened as well. Seeing the Puma Den grow is, “something as a [DECA] chapter that we can be proud of, it started out with people not knowing what it was and now we have people coming in every day buying the same things” stated Romine.

It seems that DECA has done a great job of increasing their sales. With weekly deals, and a future mobile cart its seems that DECA will continue to improve upon the Puma Den.
