New PHS Student Store

One of the most anticipated features in the new CTE building for students is the student store. DECA will be in charge of everything about the store and it will be student ran.

The students will be in charge of everything from working at the counter to creating the entire store layout. There will be a student manager who will be in charge of creating everybodys work schedule and supervising everything. Students will have to input inventory, find new products, re-stock, apply stocking techniques, create different kinds of displays for products, and everything else that is needed for running a store.

“Student managed, student ran, everything,” DECA adviser Rob Lange said.

Students who are in the DECA marketing class will apply to get a spot working at the store. There will be a teacher supervising but the students have complete control over all the decisions about the store.

Things like discounts and giveaways will be handed out every once in a while for students to use in the store.

“Give the cafeteria a little competition,” Lange said.

The store will be open during all lunches so it will take away some of the chaos in the lunchroom. Students can walk in and buy snacks, such as chips, drinks and other kinds of little snacks. The store will only be open during lunches so that students are not skipping class to go buy things.

In addition, PHS apparel will also be sold at the student store.

All the profits from the store will go to DECA. Lange also mentioned that if the store is successful, he hopes to create a student scholarship for DECA to award to PHS students.

“I’d like to open probably within the first week of school,” Lange said.

Since the store is going to be located in the new building, the date that it’s going to open is not certain. The building is supposed to be finished by the time the new school year starts but Lange just hopes that it is ready as soon as possible.
