Sophomore Emerald Morris auditions for the fashion show as teacher Kristen Pearson looks on. The fashion show is set for Dec. 13.

Steering away from tradition, the fashion program is adopting a vintage theme for this year’s fourth annual fashion show.

“The fashion show is going to be a little different this year,” stated the fashion teacher Ms. Pearson, who is excited to be able to work with some new guidelines this year.

“The theme this year is kind of a mix between vintage clothing and eco-friendliness,” explained Pearson,

“The idea with the outfits is that we can reuse old clothes and create different patterns with them.” This will allow fashion to save money for possible events later in the year.

She hopes to be able to accomplish these tasks by taking her classes on field trips to local second hand stores, to buy potential pieces of clothing to change up. Pearson will also be asking these stores to donate pieces that students can model in the show. This will not only promote the companies, but it will also tie in the theme.

Her advanced students will be designing whole collections, while her second year students will design one outfit that they will model.

As for modeling the collections designed by her advanced students, Ms. Pearson is reaching out to the student body. She is in need of boys and girls with outgoing personalities to make the show fun.

Model casting was on Monday, September 16, 2013 in the cafeteria. There will be an informational meeting on December 9 and the first practice following on December 10. The dress rehearsal will be on December 11, just before the show on Friday, December 13, 2013 in the Auditorium.

Although the show is at an earlier date this year, the fashion program still hopes to impress the audience.
