Our Take: NCAA athletes being paid
There has been a lot of talk lately about whether or not college athletes should be paid. There can be a controversy with this because athletes may feel like they are the ones that make the school money and do not get rewarded enough.
Even though they are the ones receiving scholarships, there are a lot of non school related things that they have to pay for. These include an apartment, a car and other personal necessities which all add up and can cause an athlete to be in major debt.
These items will be hard to pay for unless the athlete has a job, but there is no time for one. A normal college student has the time to get a part time job. Between practice time, traveling for games and fitting in study time, athletes do not have enough time to breathe.
With everything that student athletes do for their school and the amount of time they put into their sport, they should be given some sort of commission for their work.
