This football season, pregame norms before big games are looking a little different for the senior varsity football players. The girls who get their partners baskets full of treats in order to hype them up and prepare them for their football games are now earning themselves a name: The Perry Pretties. 

In order to be a part of this program, students must be a senior girl looking to support and encourage their football partners. The Perry Pretties are a new group to school this year. The girls surprise their partners with a gift that includes beneficial items and a lot of encouragement for the first football game, the homecoming game, and the senior night game.  

Gift giving is a great way to show support and boost a person’s morale. The Perry Pretties make baskets filled with things that their partner enjoys. Most baskets include products such as Liquid IV, energy drinks, Gatorade, athletic tape, their favorite snacks, treats, and other beneficial foods and drinks that can help to improve an athletes performance on the field. 

Girls who have given their boyfriend gifts before their games in the past, have gone almost unnoticed except by their boyfriends and their families. Now with more appreciation and recognition, these girls can feel more encouraged to support their boyfriends with gifts before their big games. 

By doing this, senior girls and their athletic partners can show support and school spirit altogether. With gift giving being a common love language, especially when the gifts are beneficial to their partner in some way, the players can feel loved and appreciated by the girl they like most. When The Perry Pretties show up to surprise their significant others with gifts, take photos with them, and cheer them on by providing school spirit at their games it has the power to positively impact the football players’ performance during their Friday night games. 

While some may see The Perry Pretties as an excuse to spend money on others for no particular important reason, another person’s support can be the difference between winning and losing a football game. 

Overall, the newly recognized girls who earned themselves the name The Perry Pretties continue to impact the varsity football players they are partners with each game simply by having the heart to support and cheer them on.
