“So what do you guys want to talk about?” asks Trent Thornton, aka Mr. PHS Master MC. Well, lets talk about balloon animals, coconut bras, monkey suits, midget dancing, washboard abs, cat calls, and the four juniors and six seniors that participated in this years Mr. PHS, all male talent show.
DECCA has outdone it’s self, in my opinion. In the minutes before the show started pump-up music was playing, the lights were low, and the crowd filed into their seat. Not-so hushed whisperer (shouts) sounded through out the auditorium as friends and family bonded over the up-and-coming show.
The first person to speak up was Mr. Trent Thornton, economics teacher, volleyball assistant coach, and all around funny man. He was perfectly plucked to the be resident MC, as he can think on his feet with witty comebacks and he entertains the crowd with an up beat demeanor. He constantly bashed the crowd on their rowdy behavior, but in a way the was enjoyable to the masses.
Now onto the men themselves. Their first group performance was a country themed hoe-down dance between the juniors and seniors. They performed as a group, in teams (juniors vs Seniors) and as individuals. Each in turn showing off their (cough cough) dance moves and their bubbly personalities.
Next each contestant performed individually. Junior Logan Miller told enough hilariously stupid jokes to make any sane person pee their pants, Junior Lester Nngabo took improve comedy to a hole new level, and Mr. Ryan McGonagall showed off his juggling skills and his closet wiz kid piano skills.
Seniors Mitch Harris and Truman Halladay impressed the ladies with their performances of attempting to perform the three most wanted actions of a man- balloon animal making, Christmas wrapping, and the ability to express him self.
However they took matters into their own hands with each task performed. Harris made rattle snake by blowing up a white balloon, while Halladay decided instead of wrapping boxes, he would wrap his female helper. And both boys wowed the crowed with their free expression-ribbon-dancing dance off. complete with tights and red frilly tutu.
So what do you guys thinking about? How awesome Mr. PHS was!
