Robotics team travels to Michigan; places top-20 in national competition

Two F1 in Schools teams for the 5th hour robotics class flew to Detroit, Mich. on Thurs. May 12. The two teams, Seismic Racing and the Four Horsemen, placed 13th and 16th in the nation, respectively.
May 13, teams from both the U.S. and Canada convened at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich. for a day-long F1 in Schools competition. The competition judged teams in areas of engineering innovation, marketing and social media use, team presentation, and verbal communications.
The teams collaborated with engineers and other professionals in the STEM field to create a model Formula 1 race car, as well as to market themselves as a professional team to receive funding for the competition. Sponsors of the teams included: ASU Polytechnic, Boca Bearings, the TechShop, Insight Enterprises, and the Sun Lakes Rotary.
Dec. 10-11, Perry hosted the F1 in Schools Arizona Regional competition. At this competition, Seismic Racing placed 2nd in the state, and Four Horseman took home 3rd.
The teams both plan to continue their legacy next year, and will compete next year with the remaining members.
