Five ways to relieve your stress
High school is filled with stress that often lasts until graduation day. English projects, AP tests, and ACT tests cause unnecessary amounts of stress for students as well as teachers. But deciding not to do the assignments is not the way to go. One must tackle every assignment with the best of their ability. Even though everyone handles stress differently, there are a few common stress relievers that can work for everyone.
1. Listen to music
Music can be a great stress reliever when your brain can not process anymore. According to PsychCentral, listening to classical music helps relax the mind and the body. Another option is to listen to your favorite song or band because you can connect to it emotionally then it will lift your spirits.
2. Exercise
When studying for a big final or have a big project coming up, try to get your body in motion. If you just take a little stretch or take a five-minute walk, this can get your blood flowing. According to Healthline, “Exercise causes endorphins to be released that will improve your mood instantly.”
3. Get Sleep
The average teenager should get seven to eight hours every night. Staying up until one or two o’clock working on homework or projects can leave you tired which will only add to your stress. If the night is ending too quickly then go to bed and wake up early in the morning with a refreshed mind. You will complete projects and assignments easier and get a better grade.
4. Think of past experiences
The best way to overcome stress is to remember what it was like to be finished to other stressful homework nights. What were some ways you used to overcome your stress? Doctors recommend keeping a stress journal to write down your feelings. Just write whatever comes to your mind; it does not matter what comes, just write.
5. Make a list
Write out your assignments or tasks to make sure you are not leaving something out. Writing a list can make it easier to focus on one task at a time. It can also give you the feeling of accomplishment as you check off each task.
When a stressful school night comes in the future, remember these easy tips and you will be able to survive high school.
