While students are anxiously awaiting for the weekend to begin and cramming to get all their weekend plans made, DECA students were competing against other schools in marketing role plays, preparing for their future, and winning 2 awards becoming the first school in Az to win both awards.
“They are one of the best students [Perry DECA] has had in the following years.” DECA teacher Rob Lange states with confidence.
Students volunteer to compete during the District/ Regional Competition. The students compete in pairs or even solo while they are judged on the way they react to a certain scenario.
When asked about what it felt like to win such an award as being a test-winner and coming in 1st place, Turner Kallen shares “It was super cool, because it was in front of hundreds of people.”
The students were preparing for this event for quite some time now. They did mini role plays so they were ready for any situation.
“The director of Arizona for DECA was even there. He was like ‘What are you guys doing?’ And I reply ‘Kicking butt!'” Lange shares with us.
DECA students were the only school in Arizona to win the “Thrive” Level award and the Achievement Level.
“To my knowledge, this is the first time that Perry High School DECA has earn national recognition.” Lange announces.
