Genuine Fresche uses healthy flavors to satisfy customers

Tucked away on Arizona Avenue, a little hipster juice joint is churning out the freshest food around . Genuine Fresche began as Thrive which strictly served acai bowls. However Thrive’s creators, Brad and Marcy Olsen, decided to broaden their healthy horizons and turn their menu into a blend of smoothies, juices, power shakes, and their signature acai bowls.

Just like all good things in Arizona, Genuine Fresche came from California. According genuinefresche.com, Fresche’s creators were introduced to the idea of acai bowls while they were in the Golden State. This inspiration would be the beginning of Thrive, and later on, Fresche.

Brianna Braustein has been employed at the Arizona Avenue location since March. Her favorite part of the job besides actually making the food, is the actual food she is serving. “It’s a lot [healthier] than other places,” Braustein explains. “It’s fruit and it’s protein and it’s a very healthy snack.”

The promise that Fresche makes to all consumers is healthy and good tasting food. A promise they definitely deliver on. Their most popular dish is the Original, which is an acai bowl. The Original is a fusion of strawberry, blueberry, banana, acai sorbet, and apple juice. The fruit blend is similar to a smoothie, but thicker. The dish is topped with granola, strawberries, banana, blueberries, and honey.

The dish I tried was called the Peach Passion Pitaya, a variation of the acai bowl. The bowl included peaches, pineapples, passion fruit powder. I could describe this bowl in two words: tropical vacation. A vacation that you never want to end. Ever. All in the same bite, you get the crunch from the granola, the sweetness from the honey, and the pleasant punch from the tropical flavors. Did I mention that’s all in one bite?

I’m not the only one who is under Fresche’s healthy and delicious spell. On most nights, you can find Jordyn Schulte at the counter ordering her favorite bowl, the Original. “It doesn’t taste like anything fake, it’s seriously fresh!” (No pun intended). “It’s so different than just a smoothie or something.” Schulte explains.

So the next scorching hot day (basically every day in Arizona), instead of settling for some overrated ice cream or a mundane slushie, head over to Genuine Fresche and get yourself a sweet and satisfying treat.
