Live concert experiences are a major part of the music industry. Concerts give listeners a new perspective on songs they already love and listen to on a regular basis. Whether it is a first concert or long-awaited show, live music can help students build a
deeper connection with their favorite artists.
Sophomore Abigail Insua is a student who attended Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘GUTS’ Tour. Insua shared, “I love going to concerts and experiencing music with other fans.” The experience was exciting for Insua, as she was an avid listener of Olivia Rodrigo before attending her concert; the concert boosted her love for her music.
Senior Kate Farley attended SZA’s ‘SOS’ Tour in late 2023 along with her sister. Farley shared, “I’ve been a fan of SZA for years, and just getting to see her live felt so different. It felt like she was just singing to me even though there’s tons of people in the stadium.” She emphasized how emotional the experience was, getting to embrace SZA’s music in a new and fun way.
A first time doing anything can be an exciting experience, and sophomore Landon Pelletier recently attended a Jean Dawson concert. “It was my first concert and my stepdad took me.” he explained, “I was just having so much fun in the mosh pit especially.” He shared that the mosh pit was his favorite, and the most lively part of attending. It was a special occasion for him, as it was not only his first concert experience.
While digital music apps like Spotify and Apple Music often separate artists from their fans, live concerts allow a way for listeners to build a personal connection with artists they love. Whether it is a first concert or a tenth, live concerts can always remain exciting for students.
