Madden 20: the good, the bad, and the ugly

This year the video game developing company EA came out with its newest edition of madden, every year they have released the football video game since 1988. Recently the game hadn’t been as good as its been in years past so this year they decided to add some new things and try a different look.

The good: this year EA finally decided to listen to the fans and introduce the face of the franchise game mode where you get to create your own character and play out a career as a quarterback for whatever team you get drafted to. EA also introduced superstar X factors which give superstar players certain abilities when they get “in the zone”.

The bad: maddens new rating system is awful, they started giving rookies much lower ratings than last year. This year’s no.1 overall pick, Kyler Murray, was rated at a 73 overall. last year’s no.1 overall pick, Baker Mayfield, was rated at an 81 overall. This off-season the cardinals signed veteran pass rusher Terrell Suggs, to pair him with superstar Chandler Jones. Jones is considerably better than Suggs however madden gave Jones an 83 overall and gave Suggs an 84.

The ugly: for some reason, whenever you run out of the pocket with your quarterback most of the time he will fumble. This is an issue that has been going on for a while. The graphics, although better, are still bad. Ultimate team mode still remains unplayable unless you spend a considerable amount of money on card packs, and roster updates still take too long compared to 2k.

There’s no question that the game got better however its still not good enough to be the lead game for the NFL; america’s most popular sport. Overall id give this game a 3.8/5 star review, I wouldn’t recommend this game unless you watch the NFL or football at any level.
