Our take high school basketball has no shot clock

High school sports have a plethora of different rules in comparison to their professional partners. One of the most controversial rule differences is the fact that high school basketball does not have a shot clock. College basketball has a 30 second shot clock and the National Basketball Association (NBA) has a shot clock of 24 seconds. The reason that this rule is implemented into the sport of basketball is so one team cannot run the clock down. Since there is no shot clock rule in highschool basketball, one team can use up as much time as they want in order to end the game quicker. A strategy that has developed since the making of this rule is to score as many points in the shortest amount of time. Once a team scores a lot of points they can then wait until the time runs out. After scoring a reasonable amount of points the team in the lead is able to spread out and pass for as much time as they need. In comparison, the NBA and college basketball teams have a limited amount of time to score points before the ball is turned over to the other team. This shot clock rule can either help a team or hurt them based on the lead that they get.
