Burks feels good about his achievement, “I did it last year as a freshman, the previous record holders were very respected and it felt good to break their record.” Last year the record was 2.02 held by Cooper Molumby.

Burks also competed in the Arcadia Invitational on April 12, a meet where the top athletes in the nation come together and race for national records.

Burks recieved a time of 4.21.87 in the mile, breaking another school record and setting a personal best. He is now qualified for the state championships. After the first mile, he ran a quick 1.57 in the 800-meter.

Mitchell McKay, a senior and teammate admires Burks for his hard work and talent.

“Cade works the hardest and has a natural talent for running” he said. “He has really helped the team exceed their expectations.”

For the ladies, Fallon competes in the long jump and triple jump and occasionally runs the 200-meter. Last season her best record in the triple was 34’11, and she is looking to improve and get a new personal record. Also, trying to get a record, she stepped up to the plate as took the role as captain. Her role as captain involves leading exercises and mainly to help the girls.

“I like getting close to the girls as captain,” she said.

Fallon has been involved with track since 8th grade and wants to continue track in her future.

“I want to go be a walk-on on whatever college I go to.”

These standards leave Fallon undecided on a college for now Fallon is still undecided on a college. Track has the Southwest Valley Championship meet at Queen Creek on Wednesday, April 30th.
