Lady Pumas suffer disappointing season
The girls’ basketball team had a rough season this year finishing with a 5-20 record. The team started out promising, but lost 16 games in a row. The ladies faced a heavy set back in the middle of the season when senior Rachel Amerine suffered a stress fracture in her foot and unfortunately missed the rest of the season.
Even with losing a key player, the team still stuck together all year. “We had our ups and downs, but I would consider us all family no matter what,” Amerine said.
While the team struggled most of the season, senior Eryn Ruiz believes there was still a memorable moment that came out of the year. “The best memory of the year was when we almost beat Chandler,” Ruiz said.
“We all put our hearts and souls into the game.”
Not only was this a rough year for the lady pumas, it also marked coach Brock Kearsley’s first year as head coach. “[Coach Kearsley] is a coach that really cares about all of us on and off the court,” freshman Olivia Vernon said.
Despite a lackluster season, the team was behind Coach Kearsley 100% of the time.
