Girls’ basketball team hopes for improvement
The Perry girl’s basketball team will look to have a bounce back season after a disappointing 8-18 record last year, the worst record in team history.
Regardless of a poor season last year, they are thrilled about their new coach Brock Kearsley. Kearsley comes to Perry from Apache Junction HS where he had numerous winning seasons and won Desert Sky Region Coach of the Year in 2010.
“I feel the team supports me 100%,” Kearsley says. “I think we can be competitive in each and every game this year.”
The team will have to rely on veteran leaders this season like seniors Rachel Amerine and Caylah Morrow.
“The new coach is really cool,” says Morrow. “He is very understanding.”
The players were able to adapt to Kearsley already because they had competed in a fall season against many other schools.
The Lady Pumas will try to get off to a fast start this year when they open the season at home against Westwood.
