Linebacker Veach commits to a STANFORD education
Football has been an essential part of Lane Veach’s life ever since he was running around in his pop warner uniform.
Veach, a senior linebacker and tight end, has been playing football since he was nearly seven-years-old and it definitely has paid off. He was offered a full ride athletic scholarship to Stanford, one of the most prestigious universities in the country. He has attended several football camps sponsored by Stanford, Northern Arizona, Arizona State, and Univ. of Arizona.
He also lettered in football, basketball and volleyball at Perry. All of that has prepared and molded him into the athlete he is today.
“[The camps] made me realize what colleges were looking for,” Veach said. “I can take the things I learned from these camps and use them here.”
“Lane is going to be an extremely good football player one of these days,” Jones said. “He’s got all kinds of talent, all kinds of ability, and he’s a great kid.”
His size, speed, reach, and athletic ability according to Jones, has benefited him and has made him that much more of a special player.
Stanford assistant coach Lance Anderson saw Veach’s film and headed straight to Arizona to watch him in person, followed by Director of defense Derek Mason.
Veach states that both coaches, “talked to me about how they were interested in me and they mentioned how they wanted me to come out to the camp this summer.”
Since then, Veach has verbally committed to Stanford. His last step is to fill out the college application and officially sign in February.
As a tight end and outside linebacker, injuries have definitely occurred throughout his football career. Veach broke his hand in Perry’s preseason scrimmage last season. He missed 6-of-the-10 games during the season.
Although Veach has had his setbacks that never stopped him.
“To get something you want you have to work very hard to achieve that goal and it takes immense amount of dedication,” Veach mentions.
Veach not only has the athletic abilities to be a college athlete, but also contains dedication and passion for the sport he loves.
