When people think of some of the top sporting events on the planet, the same ones always seem to come to mind. The Super Bowl, World Series, Stanley Cup, World Cup and maybe a few others?
However one of the most exciting and prestigious events always seems to fly under the radar. The UEFA Champions League. A soccer tournament in which only the top professional teams in Europe qualify for, the best teams battling it out in the best soccer environment in the world. Only the best of best make the tournement based in their performances in the their own respective national leagues. For example, the top 4 teams from the English Premier League, the top soccer league in England, qualify for the tournament. Many other leagues also have teams that qualify.
The tournament is currently in its final stages with only 4 teams remaining: Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Real Madrid. Some of the top players will be battling it out on field from Lionel Messi to Christiano Ronaldo . The competition gives one team to chance to call itself the top team in Europe.
On April 23 Barcelona will start out the semifinals against Bayern Munich and the following day Borussia Dortmund will host powerhouse Real Madrid. All four teams will be looking for a place in the finals at Wembley Stadium in London, England on May 25.
