Consider the first meeting between the Pumas and Chandler High Wolves a little bit of a- say- wake up call for Perry.
Perry lost a home game earlier in the season to Chandler, 63-57. Whether the Pumas had a tough time performing well in front of their home crowd, or didn’t take that 5-hour energy prior to the game- the world may never know.
However, all pre-game rituals were performed last night as the Pumas came out hot and stayed hot the entire game. They led 36-17 at halftime, and never looked back. Junior Jordan Howard led PHS with 25 points, including 50% from three-point range. Needless to say, the team caught on to what Howard was doing.
A big part of the Pumas’ success this season has been because Howard’s freakish-play; he is averaging 25.7 points a game, with six 30+ point games. If that does not grab your attention, then this will: in 21 total games this season, he has failed to score over 20 points only twice. Is someone on the sidelines controlling him via Xbox controller?
Whatever the case may be, the Pumas have continued to take strides. They hold a record of 15-8, but it is well-known that their only focus is getting back to the playoffs to avenge last season’s third-round exit-loss.
If Howard can continue his hot-streak (highly unlikely otherwise), then Perry’s future will continue to shine bright.
