Essays are an important part of passing an English class. But with artificial intelligence taking away students’ creativity towards their own work, it has become an increasing problem.

When typing into the machine on what topic is chosen, the AI creates the essay in a matter of seconds and the writing is more complex, but easy to get the answers from. AI should not erase the students’ creative work and mind.
When a student creates a paper, the words are organized in a unique way. More thought is put into the essay. The words create an idea on what the topic is about, rather than being put in complicated words. Human generated writing has more free space on what is on the paper. There are even citations on where the information comes from, referring back to where the information is being said. AI on the other hand has no citations on where the information came from. AI is also more prone to giving misinformation on the topic, which causes more marks on the paper when being graded.
Essays written by people may have more grammatical errors, however there is originality that artificial intelligence cannot copy. Human innovative writing has more sentence structures and a variety of word choices given to have spice in their essays. There are less grammatical errors when typing the essay up.
AI has ethical issues when used to write papers. There is a risk of plagiarizing sentences on the paper. AI is also not neutral and it has the possibility of being biased. While with human works, there is less risk of plagiarism and bias.
The important part of human writing is there is a tone set into the story that is being written. AI writing does not have a set tone in the story, while the student’s story does have a tone. The writing gives more of an emotional tone depending on the context of the story. Student writing can have emotion in their writing to show the creative work.
With the technology, websites to turn essays in have started to implement AI detection. Some sites are able to detect if the written work is using Artificial intelligence. Now if the essay is turned in and is AI produced, the essay will be denied a grade. This could also drop the student from the course they are in if caught again using AI in their writing.
Human writing is more effective than using Artificial Intelligence. AI is still not developed well enough to be considered efficient as a resource tool. When writing an essay, consider the consequences of using the AI generated writing.
