Homecoming is way to early
It’s the night of the dance, the men dressed handsomely and the ladies beautifully. Homecoming falls months earlier than last year and adds increased pressure on the women by them having to look for a dress and make a decision faster, and men having to find a date quicker. With homecoming being on September 13th this year, whereas last year it was October 26th. Being a whole month and a half earlier, this puts an added stress on the female population to prepare. First of all they have to get ready for the first few weeks of school and then on top of that they have to figure out what dress they are going to wear to match their date and or group.
With the men it is a lot more tedious and meticulous. We have even less time to consider ways to ask our beautiful women in a completely never thought of before way that is both genius and romantic. This adds pressure on the men because we have to figure out who we went to ask (those of us who don’t already have partners). There is no clear win for either side for having an unreasonably early homecoming dance.
The fact that the dance is so early is partially based on the easiest game for the varsity football game, which happens to be against Gila Ridge is the easiest game on their schedule this year. Traditionally the homecoming game is the matchup that the home team is most favored to win to boost the team spirit and the pride in your school. This is a widely accepted principle and generally the opponents won’t go over the top to be hard on the home team.
With this year’s homecoming game being unreasonably earlier, it poses an extravagant amount of challenges for both the boys and girls population. With administration having homecoming so early they pushed so many unintended problems onto the students. There are way too many negatives to having homecoming on September the 13th to balance out the few positives for the general population of the school. Therefore it makes more sense to have the dance later and give everyone more time to get in their groove for school and make everything perfect as far as their outfits and plans are concerned for homecoming.
