Across the pond and on American soil, there has been a debate on who has superior broadcasting. There really is no argument there, American programming is much better than British programming.
There is much more content in American television and the punch lines assigned to the characters make you ‘LOL’. The situations in American television are more relatable to the U.S. than to the Brits. We understand the situations of American television than those of British television because we live in America, we do not live in Britain and many of us never will, making it very hard to find those British sitcom situations relatable.
The humor in British television is very dry, at times, and is not very witty. They make you want to doze off because there is a lack of humor. Not only the humorless aspect, the shows on BBC are hard to follow. Unless you watch from day one, there is absolutely no way to understand what the storyline is. With the U.S., you can just basically jump in to any episode of any season and get a clear idea of what the show is about and what is going on.
The characters are easier to get to know and the humor is so witty and it genuinely makes you laugh. The content of American television is less functional than that of British television. While watching in the U.S., you really can just watch it mindlessly whereas watching British programming, you really need to have full focus on the television or there is no chance of understanding what is going on in front of you.
When watching British made television, it is so much more noticeable that there is an actual storyline, but that leaves no room for improvisation, which then leaves a dry show with no humor and you will not be left thinking about what happened. Unlike the U.S., most of the shows have a specific story to follow each episode and there is a beginning, middle, and end leaving no mystery for the next episode.
While watching programming in America, you can be from anywhere in the world and still understand what is going on, you can even find the situations funny and relatable. There is no plot, it is more random improve, for many of the American shows whereas the British shows use more of a plot and there is more of story happening.
There is more of a purpose to the programming shown; they are not just there for entertainment purpose, but also for getting you to think about what is going on. Overall, American television is much better that British television because there is so much less order in American programming.
