Perry security prepares for homecoming crowds
As the football team prepares to head to battle against the Warriors of Westwood this Friday in the Perry Football stadium, with an expected bigger crowd than usual, security is preparing for mass amounts of students and fans.
Preparing for this game, the security are adding an extra police officer and 2-3 security guard to the usual 6-7 guard usually on patrol at football games.
Along with these extra eyes, there will be 3 or more police officers in the stands and 2-3 administration by or even in the student section.
When asked how security is preparing to handle the amount of fans that will be attending, Jennifer Burks said, “the security protocol doesn’t really change we just know there is going to be more [fans].”
The homecoming game being the game where past alumni come and watch, security will be adding more ticket takers and security guards to ensure no students or fans are hurt or injured or are being too rowdy or try to bring in inappropriate objects into the game.
With a mass of students and fans entering the stadium, security is watching for inappropriate. Extra ticket takers and security guards will be on high alert on watching for bags and polar pops that students will try and bring into the game.
Jennifer Burks said wanting to remind students of a couple rules, “they can not bring in anything, so no backpacks, no polar pop cups, no soda or water bottles, no food including flour, and when they are in the stands they shouldn’t be throwing anything. They did a great job with not throwing anything, in the first game they were throwing water bottles and crap everywhere and like hitting people, like it was bad. This past week they didn’t throw anything so that was awesome but there were people sneaking in with cups and backpacks. If they try to bring any of that in they will not be allowed in the game.”
