100 percent Awareness Campaign impacts many
The works by the Chandler Education Foundation has changed the life of students and teachers alike.
Behind the scenes of the Chandler Unified School District, runs an organization which empowers the education of teachers and students alike- the Chandler Education Foundation. The CEF promotes learning, and provides crucial tools for absolutely all members of the CUSD.
Campaigns sponsored by the CEF in the local community, play a pivotal role in its efficiency and beneficial objectives. The most recent campaign entitled the 100% Awareness Campaign, encouraged participation from all schools in the Chandler Unified School District.
Many students received the campaign sheets which urged donations for the esteemed cause, but many may have been unsure of the true impact of their donations.
Admin Assistant Donna Murdock explains the true purpose behind the campaign, “The money [for the campaign] is collected by the Chandler Education Foundation, and in turn they turn around and they give out student scholarships… They also give out teacher grants. Those grants are applied for by teachers and is used for their classrooms.
These grants as well as the scholarships have impacts hundreds of students and teachers alike. Essential supplies for teachers may prove to be much as well as expenses for college-bound students, but the 100% Awareness Campaign assists in alleviating the costs.
Unfortunately, according to Murdock, the donations did not meet the goals set by Perry, “We like to get two dollars a student so if that was our goal, then we should have probably have gotten $6400… the total [amount of donations] was $1531.49, and that is just in student donations; on top of it you are going to have staff donations…”
Despite the underwhelming outcome, many classrooms rose to the occasion. The highest amount accumulated was by dance teacher Fara Sadler who raised a total of $100.25.
According to Sadler, technology allowed ease of contact to her students for the great cause, “When I found our school was in last place as far as the district, I sent out a Remind [text] to my class [saying to] please donate our school is in last place… I think that help.”
English teacher Patrice Strojny encouraged her students to donate to the cause in a unique way. Strojny’s class raised the second highest amount of funds with a total of 80 dollars.
Strojny recollects her efforts and dedication to generate the greatest amount of funds joyfully, “We won because I decided we were going to win… and I wanted 100 percent . So, I promised them donuts if we won , and we won…”
Every dollar raised will impact the future of the educational careers of many teachers and students alike.
