As he is most widely known, chemistry teacher Jarrett Pack is more than just anybody’s second hour. Pack’s many titles include husband, father, coach, and even college student. The head junior varsity baseball coach has many lives besides being a master of the Periodic Table. From spending his day teaching, to taking college courses, to spending time with his newborn son, Pack continuously talks about giving his all, stating, “I put it all out on the line every day I teach.”

Pack’s experience from his high school baseball career as a varsity starter for three years has proved to be not only helpful, but also inspiring to Perry’s own team for the past four years. The junior varsity players can describe his coaching as no other than a rare opportunity to learn from a long-time player of the game. With as busy of a schedule as Pack’s, coaching the sport may be another chore on the list, but this is not the case. “I love coaching, it’s something I’ve been doing for ten years and I love the athletes that I get to coach,” he said.

A few days before the start of the 2014-2015 school year, Pack welcomed a new addition into his already large family of four. If students thought getting out of bed for the first day of school was challenging, this tired dad had to leave a newborn son who was only a couple of days old. “My wife and my kids are my number one priority,” Pack announced about his hectic home life.

Pack also talked about studying for his master’s degree and his hopes for a future job in administration, “I’m enjoying every year knowing that it could be my last.” If his plans work out, Pack’s upbeat, positive teaching style will be widely missed throughout all of Perry. His motivation for making every day worthwhile has not faltered as his witty jokes follow him around the classroom. Pack explained his motivation, saying, “Whatever you do, do it 100% and know that you’re affecting lives. That’s been my attitude this year.”
