Extracurricular “Superwoman” juggles eight clubs
Ariana Banda surpasses many students with her extracurricular activities. As a senior, Banda is active in eight clubs just this year, as well as a member of StuGo, and editor of the yearbook.
“She realizes the importance of being involved.” Yearbook Adviser Kate Copic said. Since her freshman year Banda has participated in sixteen different clubs.
She does not pick the clubs she is involved in at random. “I knew a lot of the teachers and they had told me about the different clubs.” Banda said.
On top of eight clubs, Banda is also taking advanced and AP classes. To keep all of her assignments and club information together, she uses “A planner, and time management.” She keeps the information separated by color coding everything. Later in life, she hopes that her organization will help her in her job and home life. Employers look for organized people in their woekforce and Banda has already perfected her organization.
However, her club schedule is almost never perfect and there are times when she cannot attend a certain meeting. “When meetings overlap I usually just prioritize.” Banda said. Acting as a “super crew” in Link crew, as well as a board member of Key club, adds another level of complexity to her already complicated extracurricular calendar.
“She has the ability to maintain a balance.” Copic said, referring to Banda’s crowded schedule.
Banda believes her experience in high school will prepare her for the future. “Student Government really teaches you how to be a leader and to work with other people and so does yearbook,” Banda said.
Juggling family, friends, school, and clubs is no easy task but Banda handles it very well. By prioritizing ans doing what she needs to do in all aspects of her life, she has become successful at managing her time.
She plans on attending Arizona State University next fall, and is expecting to major in business and psychology. Banda hopes her time spent preparing and organizing a busy life will help her in college and life afterwards.
