Perrywinkles hard work brings success
The Perrywinkles’ high-energy and laugh-provoking performances not only scored them a win on their home front, but at Horizon High School as well. The improv team is upholding their successful record, leaving tears streaming down the faces of those watching.
Junior Jackson Daniels, a member of the the improv team, attributes their success to the chemistry they have on and off the stage.
“The connection you establish with your teammates during a scene is a feeling that is unmatched,” he says. The closeness they share allows the players to loosen up and feel comfortable by letting out their most vibrant selves.
Although the team has done immensely well, they take every opportunity they can to better themselves. “We’ve had several great competitions and can always improve, but we’ve had a lot of fun,” comments senior Peyton Flake.
This year has brought them success, earning a spot to showcase at the Utah Shakespeare Festival, winning multiple shows on and off campus, and currently holding a state champion title. The players are hopeful that they will renew it this year at their upcoming tournament, which is drawing very close.
“Because the team has a lot of new improvisers they have taken on the challenge and grown immensely,” explains Shawna Marquis, one of the head teachers in the theatre department.
The upbeat team will be performing one of their last shows of the year at the Ben Nelson Memorial Comedy showcase on Apr. 22. Through teamwork and determination, the Perrywinkles have and continue to inspire much fun and laughter.
