Perry Idol impresses local audiences
For six years Perry has been hosting a school talent show; showcasing the gifted abilities of students for an audience of students, staff, and parents. On Friday, Jan. 29 at 7:00pm Perry StuGo hosted Perry Idol.
With a variety of acts having been planned for the line-up, the entertainment value did not disappoint. StuGo representative Brielle Hatch said, “we pay particular attention to acts and talents that the students will be able to relate to, as this show is primarily a way for high schoolers to connect with one another and share their talents.”
There was a large range of talents, “from yo-yo-ing to spoken word to electric guitars; we had it all this year,” Hatch said.
Many months of planning and hard work have lead up to the event. Hatch said, “the Perry Idol committee has been preparing for the event since October and the entirety of StuGo has been participating in the planning of this event the whole month of January.”
It takes a lot of time and effort to plan for the show, including holding auditions, finding judges, and choreographing a special dance for StuGo to perform at the show. “Stugo tirelessly put in multiple hours during and after school in order to make this year’s Perry Idol the best one yet,” StuGo representative Isaiah Patterson said.
After the show Friday, singer Sydney Wolfe was awarded first place for her performance of an original song. The win was not expected by Wolfe who was “in it for the experience.”
Wolfe said, ” I wasn’t expecting to win, and I was totally fine with not getting anything. It was a great experience to have and the fact that I got first place is something I’ll never forget.”
So much outstanding talent was shared in this year’s Perry Idol; next year should be just as great.
