‘Heaven Is For Real’ Movie Review
Just like most other movies on the big screen recently, Heaven is For Real film comes from a best-selling book that you may have read.
Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Greg Kinnear plays Todd Burpo (dad), co-star Kelly Reilly plays Sonja Burpo (mom), and newcomer Connor Corum plays Colton (son).
“Heaven Is For Real” is based on a touching true story about a 4-year-old boy, Colton, who has a near death experience and an extraordinary adventure. Colton claims to have visited heaven while he was in surgery and he tells stories to his parents about who he met up there. He explains his adventures very innocently and talks very matter-of-factly. He mentions people from his family that died before he was born; there would be no way that he made them up. His dad, Todd Burpo, is a minister and has a hard time believing his sons stories. Todd and his wife, Sonja, contemplate whether or not to share their sons experience and what it means. Colton’s unbelievable journey raises some problems with people in the town because, as expected, they are highly skeptical. Some older kids start to bully Colton while he is at kindergarten. Therefore Colton’s parents are faced with the hard decision of choosing whether to share his story or back down.
Due to its plot being based about a child that visits heaven and sees God, it has gotten some mixed reviews. Some people have been skeptical about the movie because of different beliefs in religions. There has been concerns that the movie will disrespect their religion or try to influence young kids to believe in something that is not part of the beliefs in their religion. Although, others have been anticipating the movie greatly because its simply about an innocent boy telling his remarkable story.
I personally would recommend the movie to anyone whos looking for a great heart-warming and inspiring film. It is more of a chick-flick so if you are an easy crier, be sure to bring tissues. And let me just say that the adorable little face of Colton will hook you in the first five minutes.
With a great cast and an even better story, “Heaven Is For Real” is one of this years most inspiring must-see movies.
