Photography Students Create Successful Business
With more and more teens becoming entrepreneurs at a young age, our society is revolving around new ideas, creations, fashion, technology, and the arts. More than ever teenagers are supporting companies and technology that others never thought possible such as Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook, and Steve Jobs’ Apple Incorporated.
With technology at the tips of our fingers every day, we are able to do more than ever:
communicate instantaneously, browse the web, and most of all, take photographs.
Yes, with the use of tablets, high-end cameras, and smartphones, people everywhere are able to capture moments of their lives and the world around them whenever they want, and that is where photography comes in.
But not every picture that is taken is one to behold. To get a flawless and unique picture, the photographer has to have skill and a strong perception to know what others will find entertaining, beautiful, or enthralling. Students here at Perry do just that with their knowledge of photography, and a few have actually turned their strong talent into a personal business, one of those being Andrew Kallen.
When asked how he got started, Kallen stated, “You do your own thing, you get some friends to go take pictures and post them to Instagram or Facebook so that people will catch on.”
With a few of the photography students having their own companies, this benefit enables them to network and get recognized by people who normally would not search for student photographers.
Representing these skills and accomplishments on a resume can also help the student go further in life, opening up many opportunities in the future. The teachers here at Perry who teach these art trades know this, so they push their students to do their best and take initiative.
“The photography teacher definitely encourages us to start our own businesses,” says Kallen, one of a few whom has taken advantage of this vastly growing industry.
With so many topics and interests available to young photographers, the possibilities never end. Sports (a huge theme at Perry), nature, architecture, food, portraits, and many more to choose from, are all pieces of photography that one has the freedom to take advantage of at a young age and hopefully make a living out of.
