Have you ever heard of the game Clue? The questions, plot twists, quirky characters, and anonymous killer come to Perry for a live interactive play by APAC; drama, for their last act on this year’s stage, will perform a Murder Mystery Dinner.
For a Murder Mystery, the audience sits down and observes as the actors try to figure who committed a crime. The show will not be repetitive from one night to the next; each night will be performed by a different cast: one with all seniors and one with underclassmen.
“It’s a fun script with a lot of different, awesome characters,” Kate Brandt, director of the underclassmen cast, said. “It’s very cheesy and very funny.”
The script takes place at a birthday party for a rich aristocrat, but all goes astray when a detective shows up claiming that the birthday boy is deceased. When all turns disastrous, a detective by the name of Holden swoops in to save the day.
The show will be on two days – April 30th to May 1st at 6:00pm – with seniors going on the
first night. Both shows will be in the cafeteria where the audience will dine and watch for $10; all the proceeds from the shows will go to APAC student’s trip to nationals.
At intermission the audience will get to guess the killer. “People are going to be entered into raffle if they guess it right and their name, if picked from that, will win a prize,” said Kate Brandt.
Drama this year has done exceptionally well, earning the rank of second in state, right behind Highland High School. Rank is determined by the justification of plays, scores in competition, and miscellaneous activities like club community service and group bonding activities.
“We were first in state[last year], and it’s really cool to see that we’re top five even though we’ve only been an actual troupe for six years,” said senior Lani Dekker. Even though Drama dropped in rank from last year, they got first in the State One-Act Festival this year, beating Hamilton by one point with a almost perfect score of 49 out of 50.
Come out and support Drama in there last show of the year and enjoy some great laughs, great food, and extremely cheesy gasps.
